Abstinence is the Policy of Our Government

See this on Think Progress. 4parents.gov is a government website run by the Department of Health and Human Services. It is a sight to help teens make healthy choices. The information is not grounded in science, however a recent study showed abstinence only education has had no impact on rates of sexual abstinence. This reminds me of those commercial the tobacco companies used to have about kids buying cigarettes when it was later revealed tobacco companies did research on what would NOT appeal to kids, so kids would want to buy cigarettes. Check it out:

That aside, abstinence is a ridiculous policy with no hope of ever having an effect on teens. Why should they? Safe sex teaching is important, but we might as well tell them to not be human. What is more in July, ThinkProgress noted that 4parents.gov revised its website to include ideological, unscientific claims about abortion, stating that “some women” feel “sad and some use more alcohol or drugs” after having an abortion.
